The most respected Awards are usually those with the best judging process. Win or lose, we
expect everyone in the room to acknowledge that the winners were worthy of their accolade.
In the first round of judging, small groups of category judges will review submitted entry
material and then vote in a secret ballot against each of the judging criteria, ranking the
top three entries for each criteria. Votes will be counted and verified by an independent
adjudicator.This voting process will ensure absolute fairness in the selection of the shortlisted
entries. Shortlisted entries will be reviewed in discussion by committees of the Academy
before a further round of voting by secret ballot.
Winners will not be announced until the awards presentation evening.

Nic Newman - Media Consultant Freelance Nic Newman is a journalist and digital strategist who has played a key role in shaping the BBC’s internet services over more than a decade. He was a founding member of the BBC news website, world editor from 1997 to 2001 and head of product development for BBC News, and led digital teams, developing websites, mobile and interactive TV applications for News, Sport, Weather and Local, most recently as controller, journalism, Future Media and Technology.
